The winner of this year's EMA, the Slovene preselection for Eurosong 2001, is Nuša Derenda. The 2-part preselection contest took place on February 23 and 24 2001 in TV Slovenija Studio 1 in Ljubljana.

The winning song NE NI RES sung by Nuša Derenda received 34 points out of 36, so the victory was more than convincing. NE, NI RES (direct translation from Slovene: No, It's Not True) was written by Matjaž Vlašič (music) and Urša Vlašič (lyrics). Matjaž Vlašič and Boštjan Grabnar did the arrangement.
